Industry Advisory Committee (IAC)

Industry Advisory Committees (IACs) are an integral part of the onion industry. The Onion IAC committee facilitates the two-way communication of essential information between the onion industry and Horticulture Australia (HAL). Through a partnership between Onions Australia (OA) and HAL, Research &Development programs are developed and implemented.

The role of individual IAC members is to:

  • Advise on the direction of the Onion industry R&D plans.
  • Ensure HAL program are in line with industry priorities.
  • Provide a channel for industry input on the programs.

Members

  • Prospective IAC members are identified by the Executive Committee of Onions Australia.
  • Onions Australian then makes its recommendations in writing to HAL
  • The appointment of members to the IAC is the decision of HAL

Chair

The Chair of the IAC must be independent of the Onions Executive Committee and the recommendation should be made with the following in mind:

  • Demonstrated ability to chair meetings.
  • Agribusiness/rural experience.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Good understanding of governance.
