An Easy Trick Using WD-40 to Remove Scuff Marks From Vinyl Floors

Maintaining durable vinyl flooring is simple, usually just requiring basic vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping. However, stubborn marks like scuff marks can be a challenge to remove. One effective cleaning hack involves using WD-40, an oil-based lubricant that can help eliminate scuff marks and stains from vinyl floors. By applying WD-40 to the scuff, it breaks down the blemish, making it easier to wipe away and restore the floor’s appearance.

Before attempting this hack, ensure your flooring is vinyl rather than linoleum, as WD-40 can damage linoleum. It’s also a good idea to test a small area of the floor before proceeding with the cleaning process. To remove scuffs, spray a small amount of WD-40 onto a clean microfiber cloth and gently buff out the mark in a circular motion. Avoid harsh scrubbing tools and use a gentle buffer like a clean tennis ball for more effective results. Once the scuff is gone, wipe away any remaining lubricant with a water and vinegar mixture to prevent a slippery surface.
