Although wall clocks may not be as common in modern homes with easy access to electronic devices, they can still be a lovely way to decorate your space. If you’re looking for a DIY project to create a unique wall clock that fits your aesthetic, consider using salvaged jar lids and a clock mechanism. A YouTube DIYer has come up with a creative project that turns multiple jar lids into a charming and functional timepiece with a floral design.

This artistic wall clock project can be customized to suit any design style. While the tutorial creates a romantic floral look perfect for cottage-style decor, you can use different papers and finishes to tailor the clock to your preferences. This project is eco-friendly as it uses upcycled materials and is also a cost-effective alternative to buying statement clocks from stores.

Making a clock from jar lids

To create this clock, you’ll need a total of 13 jar lids – one larger lid for the center and 12 smaller lids to represent the hours. Start by spray painting the lids in your chosen color. Once dry, use a decoupage technique to add decorative tissue paper to the lids. Draw the hours on the lids and spray them with an acrylic gloss coat for protection and shine. Finish off the lids by wrapping jute rope around the edges with a glue gun.

Assemble the smaller lids in a circle formation using hot glue. For the center lid, create a cardboard circle to hold the clock mechanism after covering it in burlap. Attach the mechanism to the lid with hot glue, add the hands, and hang your unique DIY wall clock on display.
